Sterling comes up short in Bartlesville

BARTLESVILLE, Kan. – Sterling College Men’s Tennis faced a tough Oklahoma Wesleyan University team on Saturday, March 21 losing 6-1.

The day started with the Eagles sweeping the double matches. Fernando Vargas and Kazuki Fukushima lost the No. 1 doubles match to Theo Braun and Yassine Azehaf 6-4. In the No. 2 doubles match, Rubem Bogomoltz and Pedro Felipoff lost to Raphael Alvado and Roman Gonzalez Leeks, 6-2. Adam King and Cassidy Kelly rounded out doubles play with a 6-3 loss to Trey Rose and Zach Draper.

Adam King got the lone point for the Warriors in the No. 3 singles match where he defeated Alvado, losing the first match 6-2 but coming back to win the second and third 6-3, 6-2. In No. 1 singles play, Felipoff lost to Gonzalez Leeks 6-3, 7-6 while Vargas lost to Braun 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match.

In No. 4 singles, Bogomoltz fell to Azehaf, 6-3, 6-2. Fukushima lost to Manuel Espinal 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 5 singles match and Kelly rounded out the field with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Nathan Bartlet in No. 6 singles play.
