McPHERSON, Kan. – The Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League released its Division 3 Boys and Girls Basketball award winners from the 2025-26 season, following the conclusion of the State Tournament.
The McPherson Boys team nearly swept the individual honors. Senior guard Jett Pyle was named the AVCTL-III Co-Player of the Year, alongside Augusta’s Brody Haskell. Pyle also earned First Team All-League honors. Freshman forward Eli Reasoner joined Pyle on the First Team list.
Junior guard Cole Cooper was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the Honorable Mention list. Senior Cade Strathman was named an Honorable Mention as well. Head Coach Kurt Kinnamon was named the league’s Coach of the Year.
McPherson finished the season 16-10, sharing the regular-season league title with Augusta with an 8-2 record. The Bullpups were the only team in the league to reach the State Tournament, defeating Concordia in overtime in the Sub-State final, but fell to Atchison 73-53 in the State Quarterfinal.

The McPherson High School Girls had four players earn All-League honors, led by junior guard Rylie Whitfield, who was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. She also earned First Team All-League honors, alongside senior forward Brooke Doile, who was the team’s leading scorer, averaging around 10 points per game.
Junior guard Piper Alvord earned Second Team All-League honors, and senior guard Maryn Sandbo was named to the Honorable Mentions list.
McPherson won the outright AVCTL-III title in the 2025-26 season, finishing with a 9-1 league record. The team finished 13-11 overall.
