No. 8 seed Flinthills upset No. 1 Little River 49-42 in the Class 1A boys sub-state No. 2 championship game Friday night at Madison.
Flinthills will take a 16-8 record to the Class 1A Division I quarterfinals. Little River finished the season with a 20-3 record.
In addition to Flinthills, other boys teams qualified for the the 1A Division I state tournament are Central Plains (22-2), Beloit St. John’s-Tipton (19-2), Norwich (21-4), South Central (19-4), Kiowa County (19-6), Canton-Galva (17-7) and Rural Vista (16-7).
Quarterfinal matchups will take place on Tuesday at sites to be announced. Central Plains is the No. 1 seed and will play Canton-Galva, South Central will play Kiowa County, Beloit-St. John’s/Tipton Catholic will play Flinthills and Norwich will play Rural Vista.
The winners advance to the Final Four semifinals on Thursday at Dodge City’s United Wireless Arena.
The semifinal losers play for third place on Friday at Dodge City’s United Wireless Arena and the winners play for the state title on Saturday.
