Defending 2A Champion Moundridge Girls to Take on Hillsboro in Sub-state Finals

The Moundridge High School girls basketball team, the defending Kansas 2A state champions, will play Hillsboro in the championship game of the Berean Academy sub-state No. 1.

The Wildcats (22-2) face off against the Trojans (18-4) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Berean Academy in Elbing.

The Berean Academy sub-state No. 2 title game features Conway Springs (20-3) vs. Salina Sacred Heart (21-4). Tip-off is 6 p.m. Friday.

In the sub-state No. 1 semifinals on Tuesday, Moundridge defeated Inman 48-35 and Hillsboro defeated Remington 37-31.

Moundridge was led in scoring in the Inman game by Cammi Unruh with 20 points, including two 3-pointers.

Macy Kaminkow added 9 points and Hattie Hecox scored 8. Hecox and Kaminkow each had 6 rebounds. Hecox had 3 steals.

In the Berean Academy girls sub-state No. 2 semifinals, Conway Springs defeated Berean Academy 54-36 and Sacred Heart defeated Bennington 49-21.

The Moundridge boys (21-3) will play Berean Academy (21-2) for the Berean Academy sub-state No. 2 title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the boys sub-state No. 1 championship game, Salina Sacred Heart (23-2) will play Classical School of Wichita (19-4) at 5 p.m. Saturday.
