ANDALE, Kan. — The Andale girls basketball team had to hold off a late rally by Clay Center on Tuesday night.
Leading by as many as 16 in the fourth, the Lady Tigers cut the deficit to four, but an Edyn Stolz 3-pointer with over a minute to go sealed the victory, 45-38.
Andale led 11-9 after the first quarter and 20-17 at halftime. After the game was tied, Clay Center took its first lead since 3-2 at 22-20, but Andale outscored the Lady Tigers, 16-4, to take a 36-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Indians began the fourth with a 6-0 run before Clay Center made its run to cut it to four and not any closer.
Stolz’s 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with Addy Orth’s 11 off the bench, led Andale, who improved to 16-6.
Andale will host either Hugoton or El Dorado at 6 p.m. Friday in Andale. Hugoton and El Dorado meet in their sub-state semifinal on Wednesday in Hugoton.
