Ellinwood Girls End Trinity Catholic Season with Substate Win

ELLINWOOD – The Trinity Catholic girls saw their season end Thursday in the first round of the Class 2A Smith Center substate, as the Celtics fell to top-seed Ellinwood 64-25.

Ellinwood used a balanced scoring attack, as 10 different Eagles scored, but only Julia Schlessinger scored in double figures for the Eagles, scoring a game-high 16 points.

Ellinwood led 17-5 after one quarter, and then dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Celtics 21-3.

Alex Suter-Tan made her first start for Trinity Catholic and just her third appearance of the season after suffering a torn ACL late last season. Suter-Tan finished with a team-leading 10 points.

Trinity ends its season 1-21, while Ellinwood improved to 23-1.
