HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Hutchinson High School junior Cruz Cannon as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Cannon was the Class 5A regional champion in Hays, as the 126-pounder won all four of his matches. Cannon dominated his first three matches – one by pin, one by technical fall and one by major decision – before winning his championship match 4-2 over Goddard’s Harrison Glover. Cannon was Hutchinson’s only regional champion.
The season – Cannon, a junior, has won three tournaments this season, including victories in Emporia and Garden City. He has lost just three matches this season and will head to the state tournament as the No. 3 seed.
