IOLA, Kan. — A former civilian employee of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office is now facing criminal charges involving incidents with a former inmate of the Allen County Jail.
Allen County Attorney Brandon Cameron filed a misdemeanor battery compliant late Wednesday afternoon against Stephanie Vest. The complaint alleges the incidents took place between Aug. 1, 2024 and Dec. 18, 2025.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was contacted in December regarding the allegations. Vest was placed on administrative leave while the investigation was taking place, and has since been terminated.
Court filings indicate Vest, who was served a summons rather than being arrested, is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Allen County District Court March 4.
