The Bethany College Swedes came up just short Wednesday night, falling 101–96 in a high-scoring conference matchup inside Hahn Gymnasium. Bethany showed offensive firepower and resilience, especially in the second half, but missed opportunities at the free-throw line proved costly down the stretch.

David Mitchell led the Swedes with a dominant performance, pouring in 26 points while knocking down four three-pointers on 10-of-16 shooting. Keddric Mays II added 23 points, connecting on four shots from beyond the arc and adding six rebounds and five assists in an all-around effort. Jordan Reams contributed 13 points and six assists, helping keep the offense moving and creating quality looks throughout the game.

Bethany shot an impressive 45.5 percent from three-point range and improved to 58.3 percent shooting in the second half, showing strong offensive adjustments after the break. The Swedes also finished with 23 assists on 37 made field goals, highlighting unselfish ball movement.

However, free throws were a key factor in the outcome. Bethany went just 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) from the line, including 38.5 percent in the second half. In a five-point game, those missed opportunities at the stripe made the difference.

Despite the result, the Swedes’ offensive rhythm and second-half energy showed continued growth as conference play continues.
