Chanute, KS — The Neosho County Community College Men’s Basketball team protected their home floor on February 7th with an exciting 78-73 win over Labette County in front of the Panther faithful.

Neosho County used a balanced offensive attack, and key defensive stops down the stretch to secure the five-point victory. The Panthers showed poise in the closing minutes, knocking down crucial shots and limiting Labette’s opportunities to complete the comeback.

Leading the charge was Champ Powaukee, who poured in 19 points while adding six rebounds. Powaukee’s scoring presence and energy on both ends of the floor helped set the tone throughout the contest.

Raziel Taylor delivered an all-around performance with 14 points, seven assists, and three steals. Taylor’s ability to facilitate the offense and create defensive pressure proved pivotal in maintaining the Panthers’ edge.

Inside the paint, Adyn Prophete contributed 11 points and five rebounds, providing strong interior play, while Jayce Cooper added 10 points and five boards to round out the Panthers’ double-figure scorers.

With the win, Neosho County continues to build momentum as the regular season progresses.

The Panthers will look to carry that momentum on the road when they travel to Fort Scott on Wednesday, February 11th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
