The Halstead Dragon basketball squads swept Nickerson Tuesday night at the Nickerson Main Gymnasium.
The Halstead varsity girls improved top 17-0 with 64-22 victory over Nickerson. The Halstead boys posted a 66-33 victory and improved to 7-11.
The Halstead girls led 23-3 in the first quarter, 42-8 at halftime and 62-12 at the end of the third quarter.
The Halstead boys led 18-6 after one quarter, 28-17 at halftime and 50-29 after three quarters.
The Dragons were led in scoring by Reece Carmichael with 15 points. Noah Brantley scored 14 points, Damien Whillock added 12 and Mario Diaz contributed 9.
Carlos Martinez had 6 assists and Whillock 5. Brantley grabbed 9 rebounds. Whillock had 3 steals.
Riley Brawner led Nickerson with 12 points. Landry Smith and Cam Welch each scored 8 points. Noah Weber grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Halstead junior varsity boys defeated Nickerson 73-36.
Because of illness, the C team boys game was canceled.
The Nickerson teams host Hoisington Friday night for Homecoming. Halstead plays at Haven.
