The Larned girls and boys basketball teams split games with Hesston Friday night at Hesston.
The Larned girls defeated the Swather girls 50-47 and the Larned boys fell to the Swathers 50-22.
In the varsity girls game, Cassidy Wachs “called bank” on a 25-foot buzzer-beating 3-pointer to defeat the Hesston Swathers.
Larned’s Taeten Reynolds passed to Wachs across half-court and Wachs hit the game-winner.
A basket by Larned’s Jadyn Crosby gave the Indians a 47-35 lead.
Hesston’s Jaden Williams tied the score at 47-47 on a driving shot with six seconds left and a free throw.
Crosby led the Larned girls with 13 points. Lauren Sleder scored 11 points, Brooke Simmons 8, Wachs 5 and Cammy Upson 2. Rhianne Grillot led the Swather girls (10-8) with 11 points. Callie Yoder scored 10 and Jacy Proctor added 9.
In the boys game, Hesston’s Ty Unruh scored 18 points and Luke Bartel added 10 points to lead No. 2 Hesston (17-1) past Larned (6-11). Andres Martinez led Larned with 6 points.
The Larned girls improved to 13-5 and The Larned boys are 6-12.
The Hesston boys are 17-1 and the Swather girls are 10-9.
