ANDALE, Kan. — The Andale basketball teams split their doubleheader with McPherson on Thursday.
The Andale girls used a strong second half for a 47-41 victory. McPherson jumped out to an 11-8 lead after the first quarter and led by as many as seven before Andale knotted things at 19 at halftime. Andale used a 9-6 third quarter to lead 28-25 heading into the fourth. The Lady Indians led by as many as 10 in the final quarter, with the closest McPherson got was six. Edyn Stolz led Andale (10-5) with 12 points, while Brooke Doile led McPherson (8-9) with 10 points.
The McPherson boys got two strong performances from Jett Pyle and Eli Reasoner in a 58-49 victory over the fifth-ranked team in Class 4A. McPherson led 17-16 after one before Andale took a 32-30 lead at halftime. McPherson outscored Andale 28-17 in the second half and led by as many as 10. Pyle led McPherson (9-8) with a game-high 28 points, 16 coming in the second half, while Reasoner recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Andale (11-4) was led by Hunter Grimes’ 13 points, 11 coming in the first half.
Andale plays another cross division AVCTL doubleheader on Tuesday at Mulvane.
