LINDSBORG, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Smoky Valley High School senior Kristian Ryan as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Ryan scored 50 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in a pair of close Vikings wins. He first scored 29 points on 10 of 17 shooting, and added 14 rebounds, six assists and four steals, in a 61-53 win at Trinity Catholic. He had a great stretch late in the third quarter when Ryan had two dunks seconds apart and drained a long 3-pointer. Then, in a 56-51 win over Russell, Ryan had 21 points and seven rebounds.
The season – Ryan has been the catalyst for a remarkable Smoky Valley turnaround, as Ryan averages 23.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Vikings, which ended the week 9-4. Ryan has scored at least 20 points nine times this season.
