WICHITA, Kan. – The McPherson High School Girls Basketball team won in blowout fashion against Wichita Collegiate on Tuesday, Feb. 3, winning 66-28.
After the two teams were tied at 2 apiece early on, McPherson ended the first quarter on a 21-0 run, eventually going on a 27-point run before it was finally snapped in the second quarter. McPherson led 39-6 at halftime, before resting the starters more in the second half, winning by 38 points.
McPherson scored a new season-high 66 points, doing so on a season-high 26 made baskets. Nine of the 26 baskets made were three-pointers, also a season-high.
The Bullpups had nine different scorers, led by Maryn Sandbo’s career-high 15 points. Amarie Lowery tied a career high with 10 points.
Collegiate was led by Lucy Voloch’s 12 points, who made four baskets and went 4/6 at the free-throw line. The loss for the Spartans puts them at 1-14 on the season.
The win moves McPherson to 8-8 on the year. They will travel to play Andale (9-5) on Thursday, Feb. 6.
