Hutchinson Central Christian Girls, Boys Hit the Road Tuesday, Friday

The Hutchinson Central Christian girls and boys basketball teams will play road games at Norwich Tuesday and at Pretty Prairie on Friday.

The Cougar girls, ranked fourth in Kansas Class 1A Division II with a 14-2 record, defeated the Solomon Gorillas 55-14 last Friday night. The Central Christian boys (7-8) lost to Solomon 63-49.

Harper Newcome led the Central Christian girls with 20 points. Avery Duft and Reese Swanson each scored 8 points. Jessa Losew and Avery Kauffman each scored 6. Lily Lang added 4 and Ava Newcome 3.

Lang pulled down 5 rebounds. Swanson and Townsly Huff both had 4 rebounds. Kauffman had 3 assists. Losew and Newcome each had 5 steals. Newcome and Kauffman each had 4 steals.

Karis Nordgren led the Solomon girls (0-14) with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 blocked shit. Payton Ballou scored 4 points and Zoey Steele added 3.

Preston Huff led the Central Christian boys with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Calvin Barnett scored 13 points and had 4 steals. Hunter Franz added 9 points, Luke Eigsti 8 and Zeke Fletchall 5. Barnett had 8 deflections.

Calvin Mattison led the Solomon Gorillas (10-4) with 17 points. Breken Coup scored 14 points, Cameron Harring 10, Koehn Duryea 8, Jack Westhead 8 and Zak Pekarek 3. Coup had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 3 deflections.

Solomon hosts Little River on Tuesday and plays at Rural Vista in White City on Friday.
