Bartlesville, Okla. – The Bethany College Swedes Women’s Basketball team continued its strong run through conference play on Saturday afternoon, earning a 60–53 road victory over the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles at Mueller Sports Center. The win marked the second time this season the Swedes have defeated the Eagles, completing the season sweep and extending Bethany’s conference win streak to six games.
The contest was a tale of resilience for the Swedes, who found themselves trailing after the opening quarter as Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped out to a 20–13 advantage. Bethany settled in defensively during the second period, holding the Eagles to just 10 points while trimming the deficit heading into halftime. The Swedes carried that momentum into the second half, staying within striking distance through the third quarter before taking control in the final 10 minutes.
Bethany’s defense was the difference down the stretch. The Swedes limited Oklahoma Wesleyan to just seven points in the fourth quarter, forcing difficult shots and holding the Eagles to 11.8 percent shooting in the final frame. That defensive effort allowed Bethany to close the game on a decisive run and secure the seven-point win.
Offensively, Colbi Rignell led the Swedes with a game-high 17 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists in a well-rounded performance. Hannah Moss followed with 10 points, while Chloe Percy chipped in nine points and five rebounds. Becca Unruh contributed eight points and three assists, and Lilyan Walden was steady at the free-throw line, going a perfect 4-for-4 to finish with six points. Bethany shot an efficient 16-of-17 from the charity stripe as a team, including a perfect mark in the fourth quarter.
With the victory, the Swedes improved to 14–7 overall and 12–4 in conference play, continuing their surge as one of the league’s hottest teams. Bethany will look to keep its conference momentum rolling as the season moves deeper into February.
