The Larned High School girls and boys basketball teams split their varsity games Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian Friday night at Larned.
The Larned girls defeated the Monarchs 47-34 and the Larned boys lost to the Monarchs 60-43.
The Indians led 11-6 after one quarter, 20-11 at halftime and 34-23 after three frames. Larned outscored TMP 13-11 in the fourth quarter.
Jadyn Crosby led the Indians with 20 points and Brooke Simmons added 15. Hannah Rose led the Monarchs with 10 points. Claire Schippers and Bria Windholf each scored 7 points for TMP.
In the boys game, TMP led 12-10 after one quarter, 28-16 at halftime and 48-27 at the end of the third quarter. Larned outscored the Monarchs 16-12 in the fourth quarter.
Ty Schmeidler led the Monarch boys with 18 points, Grant Nehls scored 16 and Jacob Seib added 10. Andres Martinez led the Larned Indians with 11 points. Tristan Regan added 9 and Landis Hagerman 8. TMP held Larned’s leading scorer Kylier Greene to 4 points.
Larned’s girls improved to 11-4 and the Larned boys fell to 6-9. The TMP boys are 8-6 and the Monarch girls dropped to 8-6.
Larned hosts Hillsboro on Tuesday and plays at Hesston next Friday. TMP plays at Wakeeney-Trego on Tuesday and hosts Smith Center next Friday.
