Nickerson Boys, Girls Powerlifters Placed 2nd, 4th at Pratt Virtual Competition

The Nickerson High School boys powerlifting team placed second at the 3rd annual Pratt Virtual Competition Saturday and the Panther girls finished fourth.

Salina Sacred Heart placed first with 227 points, followed by Nickerson with 204 and Pratt 201.

Pratt won the girls title with 362 points, followed by Santa Fe Trail with 140, Norwich 138 and Nickerson 116.

Nickerson’s Chance Welch placed second in the boys 114-pound weight class in the overall standings and was first in ratio, first in clean lift, second in squat and second in bench.

At 123 pounds, Nickerson’s Brody Newman was second overall, second ratio, second squat, second clean and second bench. Teammate Braden Drach was seventh overall, eighth ratio, seventh bench, seventh squat and seventh clean.

At 132 pounds, Corbin Shelton was fourth in overall, fifth in ratio, first in clean, seventh in squat and seventh in bench.

At 140 pounds, Evan Trostle was third overall, third ratio, fifth bench, second squat and third clean.

At 173 pounds, Kristopher Monroe Jr. was ninth overall, 10th ratio, ninth bench, eighth squat and eighth clean.

At 181 pounds, Nickerson’s Gabe Taylor was 10th overall, 10th ratio, eighth bench, 13th squat and eighth clean.

Nickerson had four lifters in the 220-pound class. Conner Bower, Atton Nelson, Kagyn Rice and Jaxson Almquist placed 2-3-4-7 overall and 2-3-4-7 in ratio. Rice, Bower, Almquist and Nelson placed 2-3-6-7 in bench. Bower, Nelson, Rice and Almquist placed 2-3-4-7 in the squat. Bower, Nelson. Rice and Almquist placed 2-3-5-7 in the clean.

At 242 pounds, Nickerson’s Zain Rector placed third in overall, first in ratio, seventh bench, second squat and fist in clean.

At boys powerweight, Nickerson’s Deklyn McMurphy paced 15th overall, 15th ratio, 15th bench, 15th squat and 15th clean.

In the girls 114-pound weight class, Nickerson’s Bella Brinkley was fifth in overall, fifth in ratio, fifth in bench, fifth in squat and fifth in clean.

At 123 pounds, Nickerson’s Kinsley Crossno and Taylor Galloway were 2-5 in overall and 2-5 in ratio. Galloway and Crossno were 2-3 in bench. Crossno and Galloway were 1-5 in squat. Galloway and Crossno were 2-5 in clean.

At 181 pounds, Nickerson’s Shalie Powell and Brecken Kelman were 3-5 overall. And 3-5 in clean. Kelman and Powell were 4-5 in ratio. Powell and Kelman were 4-5 in bench. Kelman and Powell were 3-5 in squat.

At girls powerweight, Nickerson’s Elizabeth Dick was second in overall, second ratio, first bench, second squat and second clean.
