McPHERSON, Kan. – The schedule for the final day of the McPherson Invitational Tournament (MIT) and Mid America Classic (MAC) has been changed.
Originally, the McPherson Invitational and Mid America Classic’s final round were to be held at the McPherson Roundhouse on Saturday, Jan. 31, due to the winter weather that postponed the final day of the MIT. The consolation rounds of the MIT will now be held either at a different location or at a different time.
The 7th-Place Game of the MIT between McPherson and Lawrence Free State will now be held at the McPherson Roundhouse on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 1:30 p.m., just ahead of the first matchups of the Mid America Classic. This is due to a schedule conflict with Free State, who is scheduled to participate in the 810 Varsity Showcase in Lee’s Summit, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The 5th-Place Game of the MIT between Topeka-Seaman and St. James Academy will still be played on Saturday, Jan. 31, but the game will be played at Seaman High School at 12:30 p.m. This is due to both schools being located closer to each other, so they could avoid having to travel to McPherson. The Third-Place and Championship games will still be held Saturday, Jan. 31, in McPherson.
The schedule change in the MIT also affects the schedule of the Mid America Classic girls’ tournament. The two tournaments will still run in conjunction with each other, but now the 7th-Place game of the MAC will be played at 10:00 a.m., and the 5th-Place game will follow. Then the two championship bracket matchups in each tournament will alternate.
The first two days of the Mid America Classic will run as scheduled, with the first games being played at 3:00 p.m. Below is the revised schedule for the final rounds of each tournament:
McPherson Invitational:
- 7th Place Game: Lawrence Free State vs. McPherson – Thurs., Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m.
- 5th Place Game: Topeka-Seaman vs. St. James Academy – Sat., Jan. 31 at 12:30 p.m. at Seaman High School in Topeka.
- 3rd Place Game: Hutchinson vs. Blue Valley – Sat., Jan. 31 at 1:00 p.m.
- Championship: Derby vs. Bishop Carroll – Sat., Jan. 31 at 4:00 p.m.
Mid America Classic:
- 7th Place Game: Sat., Jan. 31 at 10:00 a.m.
- 5th Place Game: Sat., Jan. 31 at 11:30 a.m.
- 3rd Place Game: Sat., Jan. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
- Championship: Sat., Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m.
Ticket prices for Saturday, Jan. 31 will remain $10 for adults and $6 for K-12. Both the MIT and MAC three-day passes will be accepted.
