SALINA, Kan. — The Buhler High School boys basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Salina Invitational Tournament with a 63-47 victory over Abilene Thursday afternoon at the Salina Central gymnasium.
Buhler led 22-6 after one quarter, 36-24 at halftime and 57-39 after three quarters. Abilene outscored Buhler 8-6 in the fourth quarter.
Buhler’s Isaiah Heredia scored 11 points, dished off 6 assists and added 6 steals.
The Buhler girls lost to Salina Central 56-24 in a first-round game at the Salina Invitational Tournament Thursday at the Salina Central gymnasium.
The Salina Central Mustang girls shut out the Crusaders 14-0 in the first quarter and led 28-10 at halftime. Salina Central led 44-18 at the end of the third quarter and outscored Buhler 12-6 in the final frame.
The winter storm forecast to hit the region this weekend has forced Salina USD 305 officials to make changes to the Salina Invitational Tournament (SIT) schedule this weekend.
Friday’s games held at Salina South (loser’s bracket) and Kansas Wesleyan’s Mabee Arena (winner’s bracket) will now begin at 11 a.m.
Game times will be 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The games originally scheduled for Saturday will now be played on Monday. Game times will be 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
