STERLING – The Hugoton boys shot 58.1% from the floor on Thursday, and Trinity Catholic never got going on offense, as the Celtics fell 60-21 in the Sterling Invitational semifinals.
Trinity led briefly early 3-2, but after that, it was all Hugoton. The Eagles led 20-9 at the end of the first quarter and 38-12 at halftime.
The Celtics finished shooting 28% (7 of 28) and committed 22 turnovers against a swarming Hugoton defense.
Cameron Kiser and Beau Towell led Trinity with five points each, while Gavin Salazar and Cameron Rosas led Hugoton with 15 points apiece.
Trinity Catholic will play Scott City in the third-place game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Sterling College, while Hugoton will battle Sterling for the championship at 7:30 p.m.
