McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Girls Basketball allowed only three made baskets to defeat Winfield 44-18 at the Roundhouse on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
After a stagnant first quarter in which McPherson only led 10-4, the Bullpups used a strong second quarter to take a 26-8 lead at halftime. The Bullpups used their momentum into the second half, forcing a running clock to lead 44-11 after three quarters. Head Coach Clint Kinnamon then let the starters rest, helping McPherson run away with the 44-18 victory.
No McPherson player scored in double figures, but nine different players scored for McPherson. Piper Alvord led with nine points. Maryn Sandbo and Jersey Alexander added eight points apiece.
McPherson moves to 4-6 overall on the season. Following a Mulvane loss, McPherson is now tied for first place in the AVCTL-3 with a 3-1 league record. The Bullpups will return to the Roundhouse for Wall of Fame Night on Saturday, Jan. 17 against Circle.
