Like many NCAA transfer portal veterans, wide receiver Tre Richardson has beamed over to his fourth football program.
Richardson, a Topeka Highland Park alumnus who has played college football at Hutchinson Community College, Washburn University and Vanderbilt University, is headed to the University of Louisville for his senior season.
On his X/Twitter page, Richardson commented “One last ride, LET’S DO IT.”
Richardson will spend his final year of eligibility with the Louisville Cardinals and will be catching passes from Ohio State transfer quarterback Lincoln Kienholz.
Richardson ranks as high as the No. 11 wide receiver in the transfer portal and the No. 52 player overall. He is considered a four-star recruit.
Richardson, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, led Vanderbilt in both receiving yards (806) and receiving touchdowns (7) in 2025. His 46 receptions were the third-most on the team. Richardson also returned kicks for the Commodores and rushed 11 times for 62 yards.
Richardson played a key part in Vanderbilt posting a 10-3 record in 2025. The Commodores lost 34-27 to Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

A native of Topeka, Richardson played football and ran track at Highland Park High School. He was clocked at 10.73 seconds in the 100-meter dash and also competed in the long jump and triple jump.
According to 247sports.com, Richardson made an official visit to Georgia on Tuesday and arrived in Louisville on Wednesday night for his visit. He had also heard from California, Ohio State, UCLA, Texas, Auburn, Kansas State and others.
There was some speculation that Richardson might sign with the University of Texas, a member of the Southeastern Conference as is Vanderbilt. Louisville is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
In addition to signing Richardson for the 2026 season, Louisville has added several immediate-impact players via the transfer portal to address key roster needs, particularly on the offensive and defensive lines.

Louisville also signed 19 high school players for the 2026 season.

The Cardinals started the season 4-0 for the first time since 2023.
