Little River Redskin Teams Roll past Peabody-Burns

The Little River High School girls and boys basketball team, ranked first and third in Kansas Class 1A Division I, swept Peabody-Burns Friday at Peabody and St. John on Saturday.

Friday at Peabody, the Little River girls won 69-9 and the Redskin boys won 81-26.

On Saturday at St. John, the Little River boys improved to 7-1 with a 60-41 victory over the host Tigers. The Little River girls, now 9-0, defeated St. John 61-31.

Arika Feldman led the Little River girls in the Peabody game with 17 points. Lucy Wright scored 8 points, Adelynne Strecker 7 and Macy Schubert 7. Strecker dished off 7 assists and had 4 steals.

Feldman scored 26 points against St. John, including three 3-pointers Avery Lafferty scored 11, Havana Olander 8 and Evie Look 7. Feldman grabbed 11 rebounds, Lafferty 9 and Stecker 6. Strecker had 4 assists. Strecker, Olander and Feldman each had 3 steals.

Little River dominated the offensive boards and scored 21 second-chance points in the first half. Feldman and Lafferty combined for 16 second-chance points.

The Redskin girls led 21-11 after one quarter and 36-19 at halftime.

St. John’s Jalyn Fisher scored 15 points, including two of 3-pointers.

In the Little River-St. John boys game, the score was tied at 35-35 when the Redskins outscored the Tigers 25-6 in the final 13 minutes.

Jaxson Konen led the Redskin boys with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Lincoln Raleigh also fired in three 3-pointers and scored 13 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers for a 46-39 lead. Raleigh also had 7 rebounds.

Blayne Baldetti and Logan Schubert each scored 7 points for Little River.

St. John’s Emmett Delp scored 9 points to lead the Tigers. Wyatt Mawhiter scored 8 points, Jace Reyes 7 and Brandon Alpers 6.

The Little River girls and boys will host Goessel on Tuesday and Rural Vista onFriday.

St. John’s teams will host Ellinwood on Tuesday and Victoria on Thursday.
