LYONS, Kan. — The Lyons City Council Monday agreed to move forward with a new financial software provider for City operations. The proposal from Edmonds GovTech is under a five-year contract. As approved, the implementation cost for the new program, which the city is planning to implement in 2027, will be spread out over a five-year period, paid on top of the annual fee for the system.
The Council accepted a bid from Steamatic of Central Kansas for mold treatment at City Hall. In November, staff began noticing discoloration in the Council Chamber air vents, and a sample collected came back positive for mold growth, specifically Cladosporium, the most common type of spore in the air worldwide.
The city’s insurance carrier did an inspection, and since they could not determine a cause of moisture inside, remediation won’t be covered by insurance. Bids were solicited from three companies, and Steamatic had the lowest bid by far of the three, plus would be able to do the work on a Saturday. The council approved an expenditure of up to six thousand dollars, which is slightly above the bid submitted to cover any contingencies
In other actions, the Council approved expenditure of the remaining $42,000 of FEMA funds on the purchase of a trailer for cones, barricades and a generator. It approved renewal of a cereal malt beverage license for Yesway and set a special meeting for Jan. 26 at 6 PM, to finalize updated personnel policies and guidelines, along with updated job descriptions.
At the conclusion of the meeting two executive sessions were held on matters involving non-elected personnel, with no action being taken out of either session.
