IOLA, Kan. — A Resilient Warrior Luncheon is being held in Iola Saturday from 11:30 AM until 2 PM at the National Guard Armory at 1021 North State. Allen County Undersheriff Nate Jackson said the primary purpose of the event is to bring together current active duty guardsmen with the “old time” veteran population along with providing information on services available.
The event is being coordinated through the SAVES Committee, which the Sheriff’s Office is part of and received a grant for addressing mental health issues among the first responder community including veterans.
In addition to Jackson, others who will have information there include Ashley Delehanty from the Department of Veterans Affairs, a representative from Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center, and Patrick Zirjacks from Thrive Allen County.
The Sheriff’s Office is providing a chili and cinnamon roll lunch for the event. To register, there is a QR code on the Allen County Kansas Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, or you can contact Zirjacks at 620-365-8128 or email [email protected].
