The Lyons Lady Lions picked up their first win of the season in thrilling fashion, as Hayden Linden grabbed an offensive rebound and banked home the winning basket with 3.4 seconds on the clock.
Sedgwick dominated the early going, leading 14-5 at the end of the first quarter. But the Lady Lions turned up the defensive pressure to create turnovers, leading to points as they outscored Sedgwick 28-7 to grab a 33-21 halftime lead. Lyons maintained the lead at the end of the third with a score of 47-34. Then Carly Giffin of Sedgwick hit the first 12 points for the Cardinals, getting them back in the game. After several lead changes and ties, Lyons had the possession for the final shot in a tied game. After a missed shot from the baseline, Linden grabbed the rebound on the backside of the lane and banked the shot in for the win.
The leading scorer for Lyons was Keirah Davis with a season high of 15 points. She was followed in scoring by Sierra Belote 11 points, Celina Lara with a career high nine points.
Sedgwick was led by Ella Vondracek with a game-high 22 points. Also in double figures was Giffin with 16 points, 12 coming in the fourth quarter.

Lyons won their third game of the season and their second consecutive in a hard-fought battle, particularly in the first half.
After Sedgwick grabbed the early lead, Lyons fought back to lead by one after the first period. Sedgwick then rallied to take the 1-point lead at halftime, 24-23. Using a strong defensive effort, Lyons retook the lead at the end of the third quarter 35-27. Lyons then extended the lead to as many as 18 points in the final stanza.
Sedgwick committed 20 turnovers while Lyons committed only five. Sedgwick won the rebounding battle 38-30, including 15 offensive rebounds.
The leading scorer for Lyons was Tegan Link with 13 points. Paco Espinoza also in double figures with 13 points
The leading scorer for Sedgwick was Drew Stucky with 17 points. Holden Ferralez was also in double figures with 10 points and led all rebounders with 15 rebounds.
Lyons improves to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Salina to face a ranked Sacred Heart team in a NCAA league contest. Sedgwick falls to 3-3 and will also face a ranked 2A team as they meet HOA rival Moundridge on Friday.
