
Sterling High School’s Zane Farney, who helped lead the Black Bears to the Class 1A state title, was named to the Kansas Football Coaches Association All-State All-Class Team and to the Class 1A All-State Team.
The KFBCA released its list online on Monday. The teams are composed of high school seniors only.
The KFBCA is composed of 11-Man coaches. Eight-Man coaches operate a separate Kansas Eight-Man Football Coaches Association.
Brent Schneider, who was Farney’s coach at Sterling, was named 1A Coach of the Year. Sterling’s Jaret Wohler was named 1A Assistant Coach of the Year.
Farney was joined on the 1A All-State Seniors team by Sterling teammates offensive lineman Kevin Ploutz and defensive back Wyatt Newberry.
Hutchinson Trinity Catholic placed four players on the 1A All-State Seniors team: Wide receiver Kaid McElgunn, tight end Bentyn Chastain, defensive lineman Isaac Hammersmith and defensive back Drew Dechant.
Inman linebacker Dylan Larson and defensive lineman Cooper Wiens also were named to the 1A All-State Seniors Team.
Buhler High School placed two players on the Class 4A All-State Seniors Team: Running back Ben Clouse and defensive back Jacob Miller.
Hutchinson High School linebacker Jackson Anderson was named to the Class 5A All-State Seniors Team.
Halstead punter/kicker Carlos Martinez made the Class 2A All-State Seniors Team.
Southeast of Saline placed three players on the 2A All-State Seniors Team: Running back Grady Gebhardt, offensive lineman Drew Weller and defensive lineman Brody Chambers.
Hillsboro linebacker Jesiah Gooch also made the 2A All-State Seniors team.
Class 3A state champion Andale placed four players on the 3A All-State Seniors Team: Quarterback Sam Harp, defensive lineman Ethan Eck, linebacker Hunter Grimes and defensive back Lane Parthemer.
Andale’s Tucker O’Hair was named 3A Assistant Coach of the Year.
Cheney also placed three players: Wide receiver Detric McDaniel, defensive lineman Nolan Durr and linebacker Reece Tolar.
Pratt placed two players: Tight end Arley Morrell and offensive lineman Josiah Schmidt.
Hesston placed two players: Defensive lineman Ethan Coutre and punter/kicker Ethan Schrag.
