
A Saturday night fire destroyed an unoccupied house about 2 ½ miles southwest of Neosho Falls.
The fire in the area of 180th and Ute Roads was called in at about 9:23 p.m., and on arrival the home was fully engulfed in flames.
After determining the home was unoccupied, crews battled the blaze from a defensive exterior position, with the fire out and last units clearing the scene about 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Units responded from the Neosho Falls and Woodson County Rural Fire Departments along with Woodson County EMS and Woodson County Sheriff’s deputies.
The Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal also responded, and the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
