HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Trinity Catholic High School senior Drew Dechant as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College
The week – Dechant showed he was one of the top players in Class 1A with a dynamic performance in a 44-42 quarterfinal loss to undefeated Sterling. Dechant completed 12 of 16 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Dechant also scored a pair of two-point conversions.
The season – Dechant had a sensational season for the Celtics, who finished 8-3 and equaled their best postseason run since 1979. He completed more than 62% of his passes for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He also rushed for 649 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dechant also accumulated more than 50 tackles defensively and was one of the best punters around.
