Season Ends for Buhler Football Team with 4A State Regional Playoff Loss to Wamego

The 2025 football season came to an end for the Buhler Crusaders with a 33-27 loss to Wamego in the Kansas Class 4A regional playoffs Friday night at Wamego.

Wamego led 14-0 after one quarter, 20-13 at halftime and 27-20 after three quarters.

Ben Clouse scored Buhler’s first touchdown with 11:53 left in the second quarter. Nathan Wells kicked the extra point and Buhler trailed 14-7.

Wamego scored again with 10:24 left in the first half to make the score 20-7.

Buhler quarterback Asher Zachary hooked up with Jacob Miller on a 12-yardTD pass with 1:43 left in the first half. The PAT kick was blocked.

The Crusaders tied the scored 20-20 on a 79-yardTD run by Clouse and the PAT kick was good.

The Red Raiders answered with a touchdown at the 8:11 mark of the third quarter. Wamego led 27-20.

Wamego scored with 8:28 left in the third quarter to make the score 33-20.

The Crusaders scored 17 seconds later on a 75-yard TD pass from Zachary to Landon Martinez. The PAT kick by Wells cut the Red Raiders’ lead to 33-27.

Zachary completed 12-of-20 passes for 218 yards yards with two TDs and Ione interception. Clouse ran for 135 yards on 14 carries with two TDs. Martinez caught 7 passes for 125 yards and Miller added 4 catches for 53.

Wamego quarterback Logan Fulton completed 21-of-32 passes for 210 yards. Drew Erickson rushed for 66 yards on 6 carries and caught 5 passes for 68 yards.

Max Harmony led the Buhler defense with 12 tackles. Martinez added 9. Dylan Scripsick 7, Miller 7 and Asher McCounnaughy 7.

Buhler finished the season with a 6-4 record.

Wamego improved to 8-2 and will play Augusta (5-5) in the Kansas Class 4A state football quarterfinals. Augusta defeated Mulvane 35-20 in regional round.
