Lawrence, Kan. – The Bethany College Men’s Basketball team took the road to Lawrence, Kan. to take on the Haskell Indian Nations University Fighting Indians in another pre-conference matchup.
The first half was tightly contested as the Swedes would comeback from an early eight-point deficit to ultimately taking the lead by the midpoint of the period. Following that point, there would be four ties and one lead change resulting in the Indians taking a six-point lead into halftime. The Swedes would struggle to keep up in the second half as the Indians would take a firm grasp of the lead and never look back. The Swedes would fall 75-94.
Keddric Mays II would lead the way for the Swedes with 15 points while securing 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Mays II also dished out a team-high six assists. Will Martinez would continue to contribute from beyond the arc with 14 points (4-9 from deep) while Curtis Stovall III would tack on 13 more points.
As a team, the Swedes would shoot 45.9%, but the Indians would shoot a respectable 52.9%. Bethany’s 17 turnovers resulting in 19 points for Haskell played a big part in the loss for the Swedes.
