The Hesston High School girls cross country team, led by three runners placing in the top 20, captured the Kansas Class 3A state title Saturday at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence.
Hesston scored 92 points to place first, followed by Wichita Trinity Academy with 121 points and Cheney with 129.
Hesston’s Reese Quinn and Ashley Lehman placed third and fourth with 5K times of 19 minutes, 37.62 seconds and 19:44.55. Teammate Avery Larson placed 14th with a time of 20:13.64.
Wichita Trinity runners Lee Coleman and Emily Hein placed first and second with times of 18:27.06 and 18:28.88. Cheney’s Abigail Blundell placed 12th in 20:11.34.
