MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. – Elijah Roth’s 276 rushing yards on 37 carries helped bolster the Moundridge Wildcats’ Football team to a 33-7 victory over Medicine Lodge to begin the playoffs on Thursday, Oct. 30.
After a scoreless first frame, the Wildcats saw themselves up by just six points, 13-7, going into the locker room. However, the second half was all Moundridge, outscoring Medicine Lodge 20-0 to get a more comfortable victory.
Roth finished with two touchdowns on the ground along with his 276 yards. Kaizer Kanitz only threw 3/10 for 18 yards, but ran for 37 yards and two touchdowns.
Moundridge will have a rematch with cross-county and district rival Inman, who defeated Moundridge on Friday, Oct. 24 to win the district title. Whoever wins the Regional matchup on Friday, Nov. 7 will face the winner of Smith Center and Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian in Sectionals the following week.
