McPHERSON, Kan. – The No. 7 seed McPherson High School Boys Soccer team defeated Coffeyville-Field Kindley 5-0 in the Regional Semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 28 to advance to the Regional Finals.
The Bullpups were able to fend off the windy conditions as senior Manny Morales had yet another career night. Morales finished with four goals on the match, scoring two in each half. Yahir Valadez scored the fifth and final goal to put the match away. Gabe Standfast also made seven saves.
“It was clear that [Morales] was not playing his last game tonight,” head coach Chris Adrian said. “We didn’t play our best, but the boys took care of business and everyone stayed healthy. It always feels good to get that first postseason game out of the way, and I anticipate the team will come out fired up Thursday.”
McPherson will face the No. 2 seed Independence Bulldogs on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 5:00 p.m. The match will be played at historic Shulthis Stadium in Independence.
