Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Buhler High School senior Emerson Waldren as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College!
The week – Waldren had a strong Saturday in the Class 4A substate at Mulvane. In four sets played – all wins by the 12th-seeded Crusaders – Waldren had 21 kills, had a .246 hitting percentage, three blocks, 19 assists, 16 digs and one service ace. Waldren’s performance helped Buhler sweep No. 5 Circle 25-23, 25-21, and then sweep No. 4 Mulvane 25-19, 25-18 to secure a spot at the state tournament in Hutchinson.
The season – Waldren, a senior, has been a consistent and reliable attacking threat for the 15-22 Crusaders, who will be seeded No. 7 at the state tournament. In 70 sets recorded, Waldren has 239 kills and a .191 hitting percentage. She also has 227 digs, 31 blocks and 23 service aces.
