Hutchinson Trinity Boys Capture 2A Regional Title at Wichita, Celtic Girls Finish 7th; Inman’s Martisko, Roots Qualify for State

The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School boys cross country team dominated the Kansas Class 2A regional meet Saturday at Wichita Trinity Academy.

The Celtic boys scored 25 points, easily outdistancing second-place Remington with 73 points and third-place Berean Academy with 100.

Hutchinson Trinity’s Jacob Lindstrom captured first-place individual honors in the 5K boys race with a time of 18:16.5. Trinity’s John Lindstrom placed third with a 19:00 time.

The Celtics’ Ambrose Pennycuff, Sam Pennycuff, Sam Madden, Cameron Kiser and Noah Lau placed eighth, ninth, 11th, 12th and 14th with times of 19:52.9, 19:58.6, 20:22.7, 20:44.3 and 21:10.5.

Inman’s Tyler Martisko and Riley Roots placed second and fourth and qualified for state with times of 18:46.5 and 19:14.9.

Inman’s Hunter Schrader placed 27th with a time of 23:30.8.

The varsity girls teams from Hutchinson Trinity and Inman placed seventh and eighth with 181 and 191 points.

Berean Academy, Classical School of Wichita and Remington were the top three girls teams with 43, 53 and 73 points.

Hutchinson Trinity was p[aced by Aleaha Leighton, who placed 26th with a time of 25:56.8. Celtic Clara Robinson placed 37th, 28:08.2; followed by Mia Vega, 44th. 28:59.4; Emma Martin, 55th, 33:14; Sally Harroald, 60th, 38:49.11; and Arianna Cano, 61st, 45:21.11.

Inman’s top girls runners were Abigail Siemens and Loki Turcotte, who placed 42nd and 43rd with times of 28:52.1 and 28:54.1.

Jayden Roots, Natalie Siemens and Camille Bray placed 51st, 52nd and 53rd with times of 31:01.3, 32:10.4 and 32:32.

The state cross country meets for Classes 6A, 5A and 3A will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence. The state meets for Classes 4A, 2A and 1A will take place Nov. 1 at the Wamego Country Club.
