Hutchinson (6-2) will host Newton (0-8) Friday in the first round of the Kansas Class 5A state football playoffs.
The Salthawks are the No. 4 West seed and Newton is the No. 16 West seed.
The top three seeds in the 5A West bracket are Great Bend (8-0), Salina Central (7-1) and Andover (6-2).
Hays is the No. 5 West seed (6-2), Liberal (6-2) is No. 6, Goddard (5-3) is No. 7 and Wichita Bishop Carroll (50-3) is No. 8.
Basehor-Linwood (8-0) is the No. 1 East seed. The No. 2 East seed is St. Thomas Aquinas, the defending Class 5A state champions. They are guided by former Hutchinson coach Rick Dreiling.
In the 4A state playoffs, Buhler (5-3) is the No. 6 West seed. In the second round, the Crusaders will host the No. 11 seed.
The winner of the 6-11 matchup will play the winner of the No. 3 Wamego (6-2)/No. 14 Winfield (1-7) in the second round.
Wamego defeated Buhler 27-14 on Oct. 3 at Wamego. Buhler defeated Winfield 41-21 on Oct. 17 at home.
Andale (8-0) is the No. 1 seed in Kansas 3A West, Pratt (7-1) is No. 4, Cheney (5-3) is No. 6 and Hesston (5-3) in No. 7.
On Friday in the first round of the 3A playoffs, Andale will host Chapman (1-7), Pratt will host No. 13 Chaparral (5-3), Cheney will host No. 11 Concordia (4-4) and Hesston will host No. 10 Wichita Trinity Academy (4-4).
Haven is the No. 5 West seed in the Kansas Class 2A state football playoffs. The Wildcats (5-2) will host No. 12-seed Kingman (2-6) next Friday.
Halstead (2-6) is the No. 15 West seed in Class 2A. The Dragons will play No. 2 seed Hoisington (7-0) Friday at Hoisington.
In the first round of the Kansas Class 1A state football playoffs Friday night, No. 1 West seed Sterling (8-0) will host No. 16 Herington (7-1), No. 3 West seed Inman (7-1) will host No. 14 Conway Springs (3-5) and No. 5 West seed Hutchinson Trinity Catholic (6-2) will host No. 12 Plainville (3-4).
In the first round of the Eight-Man I state playoffs, Little River (7-1) will host Clifton-Clyde (6-2). The winner will play the winner of the Lyndon (7-0)/Arma-Northeast (3-5) in the second round.
In the first round of the Eight-Man II state football playoffs, Hutchinson Central Christian (8-0) will host Stafford (2-6).
Fairfield (4-4) will travel to Jetmore on Friday to play Hodgeman County in a first-round Eight-Man II game.
In the first round of the Kansas Six-Man playoffs, Cunningham (7-1) will receive a first-round bye and will await another first-round winner (to be determined).
Maize High School (8-0) is the No. 1 seed in the West bracket of the Kansas Class 6A state playoffs. Maize will host No. 16 West Wichita North (0-8).
Wichita Northwest (7-1) is Class 6A No. 2 West, followed by Junction City (6-2), Manhattan (6-2), Wichita Southeast (6-2), Derby (5-3), Topeka Washburn Rural (5-3) and Dodge City (4-4).
