Reno County Sabres Remain Unbeaten with Victory over Stanton County in 11-Man Game

The Reno County Sabres remain undefeated by beating Eureka 56-20 in an 11-Man football game Thursday night at Eureka.

The game was played on Thursday because a threat of rain was in the forecast for Friday.

The Sabres will wrap up their season next Thursday on the road against Johnson-Stanton County (5-1).

Reno County raced out to a 29-0 lead at the 5:12 mark in the 2nd quarter. Eureka scored on the last play of the first half on a 31-yd touchdown pass from Payton Hare to Cole Ptacek to make the score 29-8 at the half.

The Sabres led 49-14 at the end of the third quarter.

The Reno County Sabres rushed for 189 yards on 21 carries and scored 6 TDs. The Sabres completed 8-of-14 passes for 137 yards and 2 TDs.

The Sabres average 64 points per game and 11.25 yards per offensive snap.

Reno County junior quarterback Bo Smith completed 8-of-14 passes for 137 yards, 2 TDs and 1 interception. He also rushed for 82 yards on 9 carries with 4 TDs.

The Sabres improved to 8-0. Reno County is 6-0 against Eight-Man football teams and 2-0 against 11-Man football teams. Reno County will finish its season with an Eight-Man game against Stanton County (5-1) on Thursday.

Eureka dropped to 5-2. The Trojans already have clinched the Kansas Class 2A District 2 Championship.
