Canton-Galva Volleyball Advances to 1A-DI Sub-State, Senior Celebrates Milestone

OLPE, Kan. – The Canton-Galva High School Volleyball team played in their 1A-DI Regional Quad in Olpe on Tuesday, Oct. 21, finishing as Regional Runners-Up to advance to Sub-State. Senior Trinity Espinoza celebrated a milestone of 1000 digs during the evening.

The Canton-Galva Eagles entered as the No. 5 seed. They began their day against No. 12 South Haven, winning 2-0 (25-15, 27-25). Their second match took place against No. 13 Wichita-The Independent, which the Eagles won 2-0 as well (25-10, 25-15).

Winning their first two matches already clinched them a spot to Sub-State, but the final match was a battle for the Regional Title in a “Battle of the Eagles” against No. 4 Olpe. After falling 25-23 in set one, Canton-Galva stormed back to tie the match with a set two win 26-24. However, Olpe took the deciding third set 25-19.

Canton-Galva will await their seeding for Sub-State, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25.
