Bullpup Girls Golf Places 3rd in State, Kuhn Finishes 3rd Individually

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Girls Golf finished the 2025 season at the 4A State Championships at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson, placing 3rd as a team. Brodie Kuhn placed 3rd individually.

Wamego won the 4A Championship with a total score of 658, finishing 40 strokes higher than the state runners-up and 43 above McPherson. Wamego senior Addison Douglass won the individual title with a +3 score, capping off a stellar second round on Tuesday. Douglass became just the fourth Kansas high school girls golfer in history to win four straight state titles, according to Sports in Kansas.

McPherson had a combined score of 359 after round one in chilly and windy conditions in Hutchinson. The conditions in round two were calmer, seeing the Bullpups improve to a team score of 342.

Bullpup senior Brodie Kuhn led McPherson in her final round as a Bullpup golfer, placing 3rd out of 54 golfers in the 4A State Championship. Kuhn shot an 81 in round one and 80 in the second and final round, giving her a combined score of 161. Senior Andi Buschbom finished with 172, placing 17th in state.

Freshman Lleyton Kuhn, who came off of participating in the Girls Tennis State Championships over the weekend, placed 35th. Pera Bauer and Emelia Moody placed 38th and 39th respectively, and Addison French placed 52nd.

The third-place finish closes out a historic season under head coach Treg Fawl. The list of accolades from the season include being crowned League Champions and Regional Champions as well as breaking the school record twice for the fewest strokes in a round.
