The Halstead Dragons, the defending Kansas Class 3A state volleyball champions, advanced to sub-state play by placing first in the Regional 3 Quad Monday night at the Halstead High School gymnasium.
Halstead posted a 3-0 record and did not drop a set. The Dragons defeated Kingman 25-5, 25-17, Chaparral 25-17, 25-13 and Caney Valley 25-14, 25-6.
Chaparral placed second with 2-1 record, Kingman finished 10-2 and Caney Valley went 0-3.
The Dragons also won the Marion Spikefest and the Hillsboro Trojan Classic. Halstead tied for first with the Hoisington Cardinals for the Central Kansas League title.
The Dragons will host a Class 3A sub-state on their home court this Saturday.
