AUGUSTA, Kan. – The McPherson High School Boys Soccer team won their fourth straight game in shutout fashion, using a strong start to defeat the Augusta Orioles on the road 6-0.
The Bullpups scored their first two goals in the first five minutes of the match, led off by Manny Morales scoring his first of three on the match, followed by Yahir Valadez. Parker Riemann scored later in the half to make the score 3-0 before Morales scored his second goal to end the first half.
Morales led off the second half by finishing the hat trick with his third goal. Head Coach Chris Adrian then decided to give young players some varsity playing time and give the starters some rest during the second half. Kevin Garcia scored the final goal of the match, giving McPherson the 6-0 win.
“The second half was fun watching a lot of young players get their chance in the varsity game while the starters got some important rest,” Adrian said. “The home stretch of our season is going to be tough, but this team is battle-tested and ready to go against anyone.”
The Bullpups are now 8-5-0 on the season with three regular-season matches left. They will take on Hutchinson on the road on Thursday, Oct. 16 before playing their final home game against Andover Central on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
