The Hutchinson High tennis team qualified one entry for the Class 5A state tournament.
Saturday at Andover, senior Layni Hagley finished sixth in singles, qualifying for the state tournament Friday in Topeka.
Hagley won her first match before falling in the quarterfinals. Then, Hagley beat Salina Central’s Alexis Rogers 6-3, 7-5, advancing to the fifth-place match and qualifying for state. Hagley lost the fifth-place match 6-3, 6-0 to Great Bend’s MacKenzie Lindberg.
The doubles team of McKenzie Griffin/Harper Rodriquez came close to qualifying but lost in the fifth-place semifinals.
