CONWAY SPRINGS – The Sterling Black Bears continued their unbeaten run Friday night, racing past Conway Springs 46–20 behind another explosive outing from senior running backs Zane Farney and Wyatt Newberry behind their offensive line.

Farney set the tone early, scoring on touchdown runs of 77 and 35 yards in the opening quarter as Sterling jumped out to a 14–0 lead. The Black Bears’ defense then came up big, stopping Conway Springs at the 3-yard line before Wyatt Newberry sprinted 88 yards for another score.

Conway Springs answered with a 5-yard touchdown by Logan Osner following a long run from Eli Benge, but Sterling quickly countered. Newberry broke free for a 64-yard run, and after a successful onside kick, Farney powered in from seven yards out to make it 33–7 at halftime.

The Cardinals briefly gained momentum in the third, recovering an onside kick and punching in a short touchdown drive, but Sterling responded immediately as Farney bolted 65 yards on the first play after the kickoff.

Conway Springs capitalized on a rare Sterling turnover—the Black Bears’ first of the season—when Osner scored from 10 yards out early in the fourth. Quarterback Logan Isaac closed the night with a one-yard keeper to seal the 46–20 victory.

Farney finished with 254 yards and four touchdowns on just 10 carries, while Newberry ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns on five carries as Sterling’s offensive line again dominated up front.

Sterling moves to 6–0 overall and 3–0 in District 7, while Conway Springs drops to 1–5 and 0–3.
