HALSTEAD, Kan. — Each month Ad Astra Radio will be recognizing a girls and boys Team of the Month, selected from area high schools. The September Girls Team of the Month goes to the Halstead Volleyball Team!
The month: Halstead won 14 of 16 matches, including four at the Marion Spikefest Tournament on Sept. 20 in Marion. The highlight win that day was a three-set thriller over previously undefeated Moundridge. Senior Katharine Engel and junior Bailey Bernal were named to the all-tournament team. Halstead, which is ranked No. 3 in Class 3A and is the reigning state champion, only lost to 3A No. 4 Hoisington and Class 5A No. 3 Maize South. The Dragons are coached by Diana Schutte.
