After hanging with Derby for a half, the Hutchinson Salthawks saw the wheels fall off, as Derby pulled away for a 53-7 win Friday at Derby.
The Salthawks had a tough start, trailing 10-0 after one quarter, but hung in there and were down 17-7 at halftime.
But then, Derby picked off two passes inside the Salthawk 10-yard line, leading to a pair of touchdowns, as Derby outscored Hutch 26-0 in the third quarter.
Derby improves to 3-2, while Hutchinson falls to 3-2. The Salthawks, who will host Campus next Friday, are 10th in the Class 5A West standings.
