Area Football Roundup: Inman, Little River Big Winners

Andale 45, Nickerson 3

Andale, the No. 1-ranked football team in Kansas 3A and the defending Class 3A state champions, defeated Nickerson 45-3 Friday night at Nickerson.

The Nickerson Panthers (0-5) are back in action next Friday on Homecoming Night against Lyons (also 0-5).

Andale (5-0) hosts Smoky Valley (2-3) next Friday. Smoky Valley lost to Hesston 51-0 Friday night.

Minneapolis 40, Halstead 21

The Halstead Dragons lost to Minneapolis 40-21 Friday night at Halstead.

The Lions led 8-6 after one quarter. Minneapolis scored the first touchdown and added the 2-point conversion.

Halstead’s Edric Zorn scored on a 4-yard touchdown run, but the 2-point try was no good.

Minneapolis scored 17 points in the second quarter to take a 25-6 halftime lead.

The Lions scored another TD and a 2-point PAT in the third quarter to lead 33-6.

Zorn rushed for a 2-yard TD and Halstead’s 2-point PAT cut the Lions’ lead to 33-14. That was the score at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Halstead quarterback Brock Odendahl connected with Noah Dihl on a 26-yard touchdown pass.

Homecoming King Carlos Martinez (Katharine Engel was crowned Homecoming Queen) kicked the extra point for Halstead to cut Minneapolis’ lead to 33-21.

Minneapolis added a touchdown and PAT kick in the fourth quarter to win 40-21.

Halstead plays at Ellsworth next Friday.

Inman 52, Marion 30

Inman spoiled Marion’s Homecoming game with a 52-30 victory at Marion Friday night.

The Inman Teutons and the Marion Warriors were tied 22-22 at halftime.

Inman improved to 4-1 and hosts Sedgwick next Friday in a Week 6 football game.

Little River 68, Canton-Galva 0

The Little River Redskins took care of business on Homecoming Night by defeating the Canton-Galva Eagles 68-0 in a game that ended at halftime of the 45-point rule.

Little River plays at Ell-Saline next Friday.

Southeast of Saline 73, Lyons 7

Southeast of Saline, ranked No. 1 in Kansas Class 2A, handed Lyons a 73-7 loss Friday night.

Lyons plays at Nickerson next Friday.
