Dragons Stay at No. 1 for Eighth-Straight Week

Coming off a bye week, the Hutchinson Community College football team remains at No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I Football rankings, which were released on Tuesday this week.

The Blue Dragons (3-0) stay at the top of the rankings for the eighth-straight week. Hutchinson travels to Ellsworth (2-3) for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Cadet Field on Saturday at Iowa Falls, Iowa. The Dragons will open Jayhawk Conference play on Saturday, October 11 at Dodge City.

The top eight teams all remained the same this week with the Blue Dragons once again capturing all 12 first-place votes.

The Blue Dragons extend their program record for longest consecutive weeks in the national poll with to 54 weeks. The Dragons have been ranked in the top three of the NJCAA Rankings for 48 consecutive polls and have been ranked No. 1 in 43 of the 73 polls released in the Drew Dallas era.

There was no movement to the top eight teams in the latest rankings. After the Blue Dragons, Iowa Western, Tyler, Mississippi Gulf Coast and Navarro remain teams 2 through 5.

With Coffeyville’s win over Butler on Saturday, the Red Ravens jump into the Top 10 and there are now three Jayhawk Conference teams in the Top 10 this season.

Garden City (3-1) remains No. 8 and Coffeyville (2-1) is at No. 10. The Red Ravens play No. 2 Iowa Western on Saturday. Butler dropped out of the Top 15, but is still receiving votes.
